History of Muluwork Resort and Hotel

Muluworkotels & Resorts

Muluwork Resort and Hotel was officially inaugurated on September 26, 2024 G.C., in Gomata, Arekit, located in the Gurage Zone of Central Ethiopia. The resort was established to fill a long-standing gap in quality hospitality and leisure facilities in the region.

During visits to his hometown, the resort’s founder, Mr. Abel Worku, noticed that visitors—especially during major events like the Meskel Festival—struggled to find suitable places to stay or relax. He often saw bridal parties taking photos near the scenic lake, but the area lacked infrastructure that matched its natural beauty.

This inspired Mr. Abel to envision a resort that would enhance the lakeside experience, provide comfortable accommodations, and become a center of tourism and economic opportunity for the local community.

Working in collaboration with local district authorities, he secured land through a lease, personally led the development, and oversaw the project from start to finish. In a remarkably short period, Muluwork Resort and Hotel was completed and inaugurated in the presence of government officials, investors, and community elders. The resort is named in honor of W/ro Mulu Abate and Agaz Worku Sibani.

Since opening, the resort has played a major role in the area’s transformation—attracting tourists, creating local jobs, and strengthening community identity.
